Walnut Tree Gulfood Dubai

Walnut Tree Gulfood Dubai. Nick and I were blessed to be able to attend Gulfood in Dubai last week. It was an incredible event, with over 4,000 companies from more than 100 countries participating. As a growing business, we feel it is important to keep up with cutting edge technology and expert knowledge in our industry.

It’s also very important for us to keep learning from others; meeting other business leaders is a very valuable way of improving the standard of product our customers deserve.

Here are some of our highlights:

Walnut Tree Gulfood Dubai New ways to package our dried fruit.

A huge element of this year’s Gulfood was the emphasis on sustainable packaging of food and beverages. We at Walnut Tree have already done a lot of work making sure our packaging is reusable and recyclable, and made from sustainable materials and methods. We actually found an exhibit encouraging people to use sorghum, a plant, for their packaging material. This is the material we use to make our reed trays!

Walnut Tree Gulfood Dubai Speaking of sustainability,

it was so impressive to see that absolutely no food was wasted. Any food not consumed was composted with the help of company, The Waste Lab.

Walnut Tree Gulfood Dubai The Dates.

The crown jewels of the Middle East. We tried so many varieties of Emirati dates, including: Dabbas, Khunaizi, Bu Ma’an, Khalas, Al Farad and Al Nekhba. Who knew there were so many? And incredibly, they all taste different! The Emirati way is to drink coffee and eat dates, which is definitely something we’ve brought back with us.

Dates and coffee …what a great combination

Walnut Tree Gulfood Dubai Trying new foods.

One of our favourite parts about travelling is sampling new cuisines. We had so many delicacies but one of our favourites was the luqaimat, a traditional Emirati treat shared on religious holidays and other festive occasions.

Walnut Tree Gulfood Dubai Advances in food technology.

There were some unbelievable products we came across that are truly changing the food game. Vegan tuna that tasted exactly like the real fish. Carbon-zero butter. Vegan chocolate made from blueberries.

Walnut Tree Gulfood Dubai Female leadership.

There were several high profile female leaders from around the world giving inspiring talks on business, technology and science. It was really encouraging to see women taking the top spots. The entire expo was opened by Her Excellency Mariam Al Mheiri, UAE Minister of State for Food and Water Security.

Overall, Gulfood was an amazing experience that we hope will translate into new ideas for Walnut Tree products. We are 100% committed to improving our environmental impact, developing new and exciting products and keeping our customers happy and satisfied with our service.

Dubai itself was an absolute treat to visit. The buildings are beautiful and there were so many spectacular light and video displays. It was a trip neither of us are likely to forget!
