The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee
Something really exciting is round the corner. If you are in the UK, this calls for a celebration for sure. Oh yes, it’s the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee! Her Majesty, the Queen is about to complete the 70th anniversary as the first-ever British Empress to mark the platinum celebration.
Of course, this historic event has so much to reflect with her Majesty’s long reign. On this celebration, let’s have a quick glimpse at the past of the Queen’s reign and revive the memories.
Her Majesty’s Reign
In 1952 when Queen Elizabeth II sat on the throne, who would have known that she’ll be the first to reach her platinum jubilee. She is the head of the Commonwealth, the group of 53 sovereign nations including former British territories. 6th Feb 2017 marked her Sapphire Jubilee as she completed 65 years on the throne.
The Throning
In 1951 when George VI’s health started to decline, Elizabeth was the one to stand for him in public events. In October 1951 when Elizabeth visited Canada and later in Washington D.C where she met president Harry S. Truman. Her private secretary carried out a draft agreement in case the king died while she was on the visit.
It was in early 1952 when Elizabeth and Philip when to New Zealand and Australia via Kenya. On their return to their Kenyan home, the news of the death of the King led to her immediate accord to the throne. The Queen chose Elizabeth as her regnal name, becoming Elizabeth ll.

Bank Holiday
Platinum pudding competitions and Platinum Jubilee celebration will follow the Queen’s birthday parade on June 2 with the trooping the colour.
The day will be a bank holiday with the celebration proceeding with Trooping of the Colour on Horse Guards’ Parade by Irish Guards, 1st battalion and over 1200 soldiers and officers from household division will march through the street of London and other city’s.
Platinum Anniversary Beacons
During this, the United Kingdom will join the Isle of Man, Channel Island, and UK overseas territories to light beacons in the name of the Jubilee. The beacon will also be lit in the Buckingham Palace ceremony.
Thanksgiving and Party at The Palace
The thanksgiving will proceed at St Paul’s Cathedral. This will follow by a great concert at Buckingham Palace where entertainers will perform songs depicting events and celebrations from significant moments from the Queen’s reign.
The Jubilee Lunch
