Jewish Women’s Aid is the only specialist charity in the UK supporting Jewish women and their children affected by domestic abuse and sexual violence. We exist because one in four women will experience domestic abuse in her lifetime and one in five women will experience sexual assault. We support Jewish women and girls aged 16+ (14+ in London)
JWA research has found that on average, Jewish women take about 2 years longer to report domestic abuse than the national average – 11.5 years instead of about 9.5 years
The Jewish community is no different and every week we support women who have experienced physical, emotional, financial, sexual and spiritual abuse, with control and coercion at its heart. Jewish Women’s Aid is a lifeline for over 700 women in our community every year. We run a holistic and culturally sensitive service, offering advocacy and emotional support, counselling, group work, helplines, web chat and children’s therapy services. Our preventive educational work takes place in synagogues, schools, on campus and across Jewish community settings
If we are going to be able to continue to offer our services we need ongoing support from our community.
CAMP SIMCHA SUPPORTING FAMILIES ACROSS THE COMMUNITY
Camp Simcha is a lifeline for Jewish families devastated by serious childhood illness, providing practical, emotional and therapeutic support, while bringing hope and joy at the darkest of times.
In this past year, they have provided bespoke support to over 1,500 family members throughout the UK, coping with over 50 childhood medical conditions, including, but not limited to: genetic illnesses, heart conditions, cancer, serious muscular conditions, premature babies, serious mental health conditions and Type 1 Diabetes.
Camp Simcha’s vision is that no UK Jewish family with a seriously ill child should have to suffer without their support.
